Women, despite their low social status, did play roles in the Revolution. They sewed uniforms for the men and sometimes took over the jobs of the men who were off fighting. Some women such as Margaret Mill Morris took care of the wounded, as many other women turned their own homes into hospitals.
That was super interesting. I am not joking. This reminds me of the old saying, "Women who behave rarely make history." Imagine if these women never did what they did. I appreciate you Brenna and this blog post!
ReplyDeleteGood blog post Brenna. I was really only familiar with Besty Ross before I read this blog, but now I feel more educated on the important roles of women in the American Revolution.
ReplyDeleteVery Interesting. I had no idea about any of these women except Betty Ross and her whole American flag deal. I feel like these parts of history are neglected
ReplyDeletenice post, i think it would be especially hard to do what that women did (forgot her name, but started with a c...). I mean think about it "hey guys wake up; the town is on fire." "What, no it's not" "no seriously its on fire" "nuh uh, if youre messing with me..." "dude get out of bed the british are coming." haha
ReplyDeleteWomen do seem to have been left out of American history. I had not even heard of any women in the revolution other than Betsy Ross and Abigail Adams.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know some women could be so violent.. I really had no idea women played this big a role in the military aspect of the revolution, but now I feel truly enlightened. Awesome blog post.
